Analysis of selected gene variants in athletes - runners at 400 m
Šplíchalová, Dominika ; Petr, Miroslav (advisor) ; Šteffl, Michal (referee)
Title: Analysis of selected gene variants in athletes - runners at 400 m Objectives: This work aims to find out what the genetic profile of athletes - runners at 400 meters, who are working in lactate mode, looks like. Methods: A cross-sectional investigation involved 203 East European Caucasian males and was conducted collaboratively at the FTVS UK and Józef Piłsudski University of Physical Education in Warsaw (AWF Warsaw). The athletes, after a brief warm- up, participated in a single 30-second Wingate test. DNA samples were collected non-invasively through saliva swabs. Lactate levels were measured using an invasive approach. Results: In the polymorphisms rs4646994 gene ACE was found to have a significant difference in genotypic (p = 0.001, x2 = 14.90) and allelic (p = 0.004, x2 = 8.52) frequencies between the overall athlete group and the controls. A notable difference in the ACE gene showed the comparison of the genotypes (p = 0.001, x2 = 13.66) and between the alleles (p = 0.003, x2 = 8.89) between the control group and elite athletes. The last statistically significant difference was observed among the genotypes (p = 0.03, x2 = 6.79) between the sub-elite athletes and the control group. When assessing the genotypic and allelic frequencies for the polymorphisms rs1815739 in the ACTN3 gene, we...
Speed Abilities of Athletes 10 - 14 year old
Vodička, Tomáš ; Vindušková, Jitka (advisor) ; Kaplan, Aleš (referee)
Title: Speed abilities of 10 - 14 year old athletes Aims: The aim of the work is to assess the speed abilities of selected children from athletics categories U12 and U14. We are mainly interested in the percentage improvement of the monitored group of athletes as a whole, individual categories and individual athletes. We also determine the size of the relation of individual outputs (correlation). Methods: We uses the method of analysis and comparison to obtain the results. The tests were selected and adapted to test the speed and strength abilities of the athletes. For our purposes, we chose 3 tests (50m PVS, long jump from the place, optojump SQJ and CMJ). Each athlete participated in at least 5 testing during 1.6 - 1.7 years. Results: Most athletes improved their performance during the testing period. We found the tightness of the relation between individual test performances and somatic values. The tightness of the relation between the performance in the 50m PVS test and the long jump from the site was found to be tight with the tightness of the relation between the performances in the 50m PVS test and the performances in the SQJ / CMJ optojump tests. For testing speed-strength performances for categories up to 14 years is suffice 50m PVS test and a long jump from the spot. The SQJ and CMJ...
Comparison of racing performance and the results of laboratory tests as indicators prerequisites for top runners on the middle and long distance
VONDRUŠKOVÁ, Jana
In this Bachelor Thesis, the author is focused on the observation of top athletes in 800 m, 1,500 m and 3,000 m runs. The thesis was based on the comparison of racing performance with the results of laboratory tests. The purpose of the work was to predict the performance in certain disciplines based on predetermined tests. We used the content analysis, content synthesis, and measurement method to select the data. We used the measurement method to determine the results from the laboratory. The laboratory tests we used were spiroergometry, spirometry, body composition test, and Wingate test. Then we processed the data using material significance. For significance, we used the Sperman's correlation coefficient. We have defined materiality by Cohen´s d. In the end of the work, we determined the connection between the performance of athletes in 800 and their results from Wingate test, as well as some connection of performances at athletes in 1 500 m, 3 000 m and their results from the spiroergometry test.
